Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh sprawls west from the confluence of the Mekong & Tonle Sap rivers. Despite initial impresions, the heart of Phnom Penh has a strong appeal. The french influence is evident in the colonial shophouses lining the boulevard with the occasional majestic monument or public building animating the cityspace. The Phnom Perhois are open and friendly. The majority of sights can be covered in a day or two and i'm sure it will be a nice one..so why not put phnompenh in one of your must visit this year...

Toul Sleng Genocide Museum is formally a secondary school in the capital called Tuol Sway Prey High School. In April 1975, Pol Pot had transformed it into a prison called S.21 where several thousands of victims were imprisoned and exterminated with thier wives & children.

@ Wat Phnom - with phnom meaning 'hill' in khmer, legend has it that Phnom Penh was named after this small hill. Though the Wat is by no means the biggest or most impressive in PP, it is a focus for the city. The large stupa (pic far up)to the west of the the vinear contains the remains of King Ponhea Yat.
